Reading Notes: Shri Krishna of Dwarka and Other Stories Part B (week 11)
The topic I choose to write is on Krishna and the book is called Shri Krishna of Dwarka and Other Stories and from that, I choose to take notes on chapter five “The Syamantaka Jewel” from part B. This eight-chapter is about the adventure of the Syamantaka Jewel and the jewel was a boon from Sun god to Satrajit his devote because of the jewel nobody dared to go near Satrajit to cause trouble. My favorite thing of the Syamantaka Jewel was that only man who is not a coward or evil they would be able to keep the Syamantaka Jewel but if they were evil or a coward they would be killed because that how the Syamantaka Jewel work. And that happened to Prasena the brother of Satrajit. Satrajit gave the jewel to Prasena to safe keep it from getting stolen. But lion killed Prasena, he was not a coward but he led an evil life so the jewel backfired.
There was one more interesting thing that I got to learn that Krishna married had eight times in his life and princess Jambavati and Satyabhama was one of the eight wives. I never got to learn that Krishna had eight wives because I believe in Hinduism and we are not allowed to have more that one wife, so this really shocked me and it was new to me. I was also surprised to hear the Balarama the brother of Krishna doubted Krishna that he hid the Syamantaka Jewel because of greed. How could he doubt his own brother, well that explains that greed can make the family fall apart. And to remove the doubt from Balarama Krishna started to search for the jewel and then he found out the Akrura had the jewel so he found him and saw that the jewel was on him and that removed the doubt of Balarama.
