Reading Notes: Seven Secrets of the Goddess Part B
The Video that I choose to take notes on is called “Seven Secrets of the Goddess”. The third part of the video is called Gaia’s Secret. It was a really interesting video I got to learn a lot of stuff in this video about women how they are treated and portrayed from old ages to new ages. It talks about how women are always chaos to the men in the world and men should be always above women. The video starts out talking about how women represent in rural culture and urban culture. In rural culture, women are represented as fertility and in urban culture, women represented as obedience because they indicated control and discipline. Then also see the what different culture see women as such as Chinese culture thought that women and men were equal like Yin and Yang they can’t live without each other and men were thought as a dragon (Yang) and women as a phoenix (Yin).
There other secrets that I thought were also good like this one where they talk about that women are the trophies for the men rivalry and they seem to value desire overrules because back in days if you wanted to obtain a women to be your lover you have to go through trials, for example, the Draupadi Swayamvar in Mahabharata and Bow competition in Ramayana but Rama at the end of competition tell everyone that she not a trophies to carry around and he only marry her if she accepts him as her husband. By the end of the video, women become the object of honors of the family and the video give a really good example of for that too such as in Ramayana Rama only saved Sita because of his family honor and in Mahabharata Draupadi was disrobed in front of public because they wanted to dishonor the Pandavas family.
