Reading Notes: Shri Krishna of Dwarka and Other Stories Part A (week 11)
The topic I choose to write is on Krishna and the book is called Shri Krishna of Dwarka and Other Stories and from that, I choose to take notes on chapter five “The Manhood of Krishna” from part A. This fifth chapter is just about the manhood of Krishna such as how he kills all the demons who were wreaking havoc on the Earth. He killed a lot of demons such as serpent Kaliya and he also freed Rishi Angira from the curse and after that fought demon Arishta. The fight of demon Arishta was one of the favorite parts of this story. Demon Arishta took the form of a giant bull because of that he looked two to three times bigger than normal bull and he terrorizing everyone near the Gokula with fear so Krishna decided to fight him and the way the fight was depicted really blew my mind because it was action pack.
Such as part where Krishna kills the bull in the novel, “Krishna caught its horns in both hands and with a deft twist rolled the monster over on its back. Putting one foot on its chest and seizing one horn in his hand, he broke it off near the socket. Then using it as a flail, he beat Arishta from head to foot all over its body. In vain the monster bellowed with the pain and strove to free itself. Gradually its bellowings grew feebler and feebler and at last, ceased altogether.” You can just imagine what is happening in that fight with demon Arishta and how Krishna killed him.
This book was written by C. A. Kincaid, The title of the book is Shri Krishna of Dwarka and Other Stories Part A Link to chapter five.
