Reading Notes: Mahabharata: The Greatest Spiritual Epic of All Time Part A.
The book that I choose to write my notes is on Mahabharata: The Greatest Spiritual Epic of All Time. From Reading A I chose to take notes in chapter 1.2: Pandu Cursed and Blessed. Frist of all I didn’t expect this story to be in so much detail and actually have like a whole chapter and I kind of enjoy reading this kind of novel because it has a setting, emotion, character and how their daily life works in great detail. I chose to take notes on this story because the title of this chapter sounded interesting. The most interesting and shocked part of this chapter for me was that Pandu the king who killed the deer but in reality the deer was Rishimuni Kindama who was transformed into deer form and mating with his wife, who was also transformed in to deer because people would criticize him for doing this kind of activity because he was Brahmin and Brahmin can’t do those kind of act. So do the act of intercourse they both transform into deer but were killed by the King Pandu and King Pandu shouldn’t have killed the deer because it been written in Sastra “No creature should be attacked at the moment of intercourse. Then Rishimuni Kindama cursed him saying that whenever he would of approach your wife with the intent to have intercourse you would die.
My second favorite part of this chapter is that after cursed comes the blessing. And that blessing was really big because King Pandu found out from his wife Kunti that she could give birth to the half godsons. She obtains 5 boons but already used one boon in the past so only had four boons left but never used it until now. It was finally time to use it so she summoned God of Dharma, god of Vayu, and Kind of Heaven Indra to seek their child and one more boon that was left and that boon was used by King Pandu second wife and obtain twins form that god.
