Reading Notes: Public Domain Edition of the Ramayana, Part C
From reading part C, I took my notes on chapter 55, 56 and chapter 57. This is the small summary of what happens in both chapters. Hanuman goes to Lanka city to rescue Sita the wife of Rama, but end up getting captured by Ravana. Afterward, Ravana to burn his tail but Hanuman can’t be burn by fire so instead of burning Hanuman, Hanuman burned the whole Lanka and the whole Lanka was in chaos. From chapter 55 the one thing that I liked was Hanuman character because he was fearless. He alone went to Lanka to rescue Sita and plus he let him self-get captures by Ravana demons to just see what Ravana would look like and wanted to talk to him to see what he would say. He didn’t even think about the conciseness of what would happen to him. I would definitely use him in my next story that I am going to write.
In chapter 56 I liked Hanuman threating attitude to Ravana when he is telling Ravana that he is indeed Rama’s envoy and to scare Ravana, Hanuman told him all the accomplish of Rama, and gave Ravana advice that he should surrender Sita if you want to save your life. In chapter 57 I like the Hanuman wit and how the setting is described in the chapter. Hanuman outwitted Ravana by burning down the whole Lanka city by the same tail that Ravana burned it and made him regret burning Hanuman tail. The second part that I like is how the chapter describes the setting. The first setting that I liked Hanuman found Sita sitting under the Ashoka tree and then greeted her. The second setting is when he gets free of the bonds and it goes like this “he snapped his bonds and sprang into the sky, huge as a mountain, and rushed to and fro in Lanka, burning the palaces and all their treasures.”
