Reading Notes: PDE Mahabharata Part A

The book that I choose to write my notes is on PDE Mahabharata: The Sons of Pandu.  From reading part A, I took notes on chapter 9 and 10.  Chapter 9 is called Pandu and His Wives and 10 are chapter name is Sons of Pandu.  In chapter nine my favorite parts are when King Pandu met with misfortune in the jungle while hunting for deer. He shot the Brahmin and his wife because he thought the Brahmin and his wife were deer but they weren’t.  When the Brahmin was on his last breath he cursed King Pandu that he will die in the arms of one of his wives. That really shocked the King Pandu and was stricken with fear; so he immediately decides to give whatever he had to the Brahmin and went to live in a solitary place with his two wives.

From the chapter 10, my favorite part was when they introduce the Pandu sons because they were not his son but the sons of gods. The first son is Yudhishthira, the son of Dharma (justice), the second son is Bhima, the son of Vayu (wind), the third son is Arjuna, the son of Indra (king of heaven), and last two sons are twins Nakula and Sahadeva, sons of Madri. The last son Kunti had is called Karna, he is the son of a sun god. He wasn't mentioned as one of the five Pandava because he was abandoned because Kunti accidentally used one of her son’s boons. Another one of my favorite parts of this chapter is when King Pandu died the way the Brahmin told him the way he would meet his end. And it happens out of nowhere because one day he met his favorite wife Madri and wandered together in a forest as soon as he fell into her arms he was dead.

This book was written by Laura Gibbs, The title of the book is Public Domain Edition of the Mahabharata: The Sons of Pandu Part A, and here is the Link to chapter 10 and 9
