Reading Notes; Ramayana, Part A

The book that I choose to write my notes is on Ramayana Online: Public Domain Edition.  From reading part A, I took notes on chapter 9 and 10.  Chapter 9 is called King Janaka and 10 are chapter name is Rama Wins Sita.  In chapter nine my favorite parts is when King Janaka brings out the bow of Shiva and introduce them that nobody can bend it and put the bowstring on it even if it the Asuras or the Rajahs and if you can bend the bow of Shiva and put the string on it then he will marry my daughter Sita.  The setting and imagination of where the bow on and how the bow was brought out from the inner hall.  “From an inner hall, many stalwart men hauled the stupendous bow on an eight-wheeled iron chariot into the presence of the monarch of Mithila.” And from that, you can tell that the bow was heavy, and how much importance was put on the bow.

From the chapter 10, my favorite part was when Rama ask all the kings and warrior sitting in the hall and said, “Permit me to lift and bend thy bow.” From that one line, you can hear he has 100 percent confidence to pick up the bow. The next moment all the kings, warrior or noble who were laughing at the Rama stopped laughing because they were amazed because Rama lifted the bow and bent it and strung the string on the bow, but the next thing really shocked their minds because after he strung the string on the bow he bent the bow so hard that it broke in two pieces from the middle.  When the bow broke from the middle the thunder noise in the sky, the earth shook and the mountain was shaken, that how big of an impact the bow made when it broke in half.  This book was written by Laura Gibbs, The title of the book is Public Domain Edition of the Ramayana, and here is the Link to chapter 9 and 10.
